About the Webinar
In the 21st century, nearly one-sixth of the population in the world work in fashion industry. The market value of fashion industry is approximately US$3.3 trillion, accounting for 2% of the global GDP. The explosive growth of consumer demand has also brought irreversible resources waste and energy depletion. Underutilization and lack of recycling cause a staggering economic loss of $500 billion a year. Sustainable design has become an inevitable trend in the future fashion industry. Whether independent designers or fashion companies are changing the past production models and design methods actively, and achieving sustainable fashion in terms of materials, technology, and design. The consumption concept changed subsequently, abandoning complicated styles and shifting from paying for design to paying for emotional value.
This virtual academic seminar invites experts and scholars in the fields of education, enterprise and design to share sustainable issues related to clothing and textiles and have further discussion with graduate students. Participants will share the current situation, development trends, related materials and technology of fashion sustainability, as well as traditional techniques and design innovations to provide references of sustainability in academic research and industry development, which is of great significant to promote the research and practice of sustainability globally.
